Getting Ready

Monica: I’ve wound some of the Lorna’s Laces sock yarn I’m going to be using for the Secret Sock Swap. It’s in the gorgeous Motherlode colorway and I’m going to knit this pattern. Here’s the yarn–which I got from the Boys of course:

I can’t wait to start it because the yarn is so pretty. Of course while I was ordering the yarn I had to get myself some in the Valentine colorway. (Pictures of that later.) I’ve been practicing my sock knitting by knitting some socks for my mom. (I’m such a great daughter by using her socks as a guinea pig!) I’m working on the 2nd sock now. Here’s a shot of the sock and the felted bag I started last week. The bag is based on the pattern for the Original Mags Bag. This pattern calls for 2 skeins of Noro Kureyon and one skein of a solid color yarn. I just used some leftovers and worried about running out of yarn the entire time. The pattern also calls for a clasp that I haven’t knitted yet because I’ve run out of the leftovers so I’m not sure what I’m going to do yet for that part. I think I have enough to at least make a loop closure.

Also, I stopped procastinating and sewed in the zipper on my 2×2x3×1 ribby so I can finally take it off my list of WIPs. I even sewed in a cute ribbon in a lame attempt to cover up my hideous sewing of the zipper. Heidi was nice enough to pick up some ribbon for me while on one of her trips to Michigan. Now the hideous-ness (if that’s even a word) is apparent in the ribbon. Here are some shots of the sweater:

It’s very comfy and I liked knitting with Lion Brand Cotton Ease. It’s just the type of sweater that I will wear during the chilly summer mornings before work. I’ll also appreciate it while wearing it under the freezing cold air conditioning vents at work. Thank you Bonne Marie for sharing a great pattern (along with so many others)!

Finally, the Kersti-along starts tomorrow so I thought I would at least attempt to start by winding some yarn. I really love Kersti and I can’t wait to start my project too! I know that if I start knitting it I will abandon all my other projects and just work on this non-stop until it’s completely done.

I need 3 more sets of hands! Just imagine all the knitting I could get done.
