Weekend Knitting
Monica: I spent a few hours this morning teaching Austen how to knit:
She picked it up pretty quickly. I love how kids show no fear. Some stitches slid off the needles and she just put them right back on. After a while she was able to knit and purl and she was on her way:
Austen volunteers at the Naper Settlement where she dresses up in costume and portrays what life was like back in 19th century Naperville as a kid. She wanted to learn how to knit so that she could do it on some days when she’s not playing. She even wanted a pair of wooden needles because they would look more authentic than metal ones. While she was knitting her brother showed me his impression of a turkey roast:
Pretty funny, huh? After all this fun I had to go back to my house and paint.
In between painting I get to take knitting breaks. Apparently not enough because I’m not making a lot of progress on the Tweedy Aran Cardi:
