My Dogs Smell Like My Grandmother
Monica: We have lots of fruit trees on our property including several jujube trees. The former owner of the property hires some people to help pick the fruit and sells them but they don’t get all the fruit off the trees. The rest of the fruit falls to the ground for critters to eat. There are lots of rabbits running around which means they leave lots of poop around. Buddy loves to eat bunny poop (or bunny Mentos as one of my former neighbors called it.) Here’s Buddy at his happiest:

Besides the bunny poop Buddy and Ella have started eating the fallen fruit. They been eating it for a few weeks now and last night Charlie announced that the dogs smelled like maple syrup. I took a big whiff of them but to me they smell like this ointment that my grandmother used to apply to her aching joints every day. My grandmother lived with my family when we were growing up so I remember that smell distinctly. She must have used some extract of the jujube fruit in the ointment. It’s weird and funny to me that my dogs remind me of how my grandmother smelled so I had to blog about it.
Yesterday when I got home there was a nice package waiting for me from Susan. This was in it:

3 skeins of soft and pretty Malabrigo yarn. I wanted to get some before I moved but never had a chance to do it. I have a shrug of some sort in mind for the yarn. She also sent some treats for the doggies which they loved of course. Thank you very much Susan!
I’m in full Christmas present knitting mode and Ifinished a kerchief for my sister-in-law to give to her mother-in-law.

I have one more present left to knit and then I’m done. I think.
