Still Knitting in Chicagoland
Monica: Sorry I haven’t posted in a while but Lynette has been doing her best to keep you all entertained. Thanks Lynette! I arrived last Sunday and attended a training class last week. Then I reported to work last Friday and worked in the office until today. I felt really strange commuting to work. The biggest thing I noticed while taking the subway was how much perfume people like to wear. It was also a little strange to be back in an office environment. It was difficult to focus on doing some work because people spent a lot of time chatting about work. I don’t have as many distractions at home and get a lot more accomplished. I wish they would allow PJs in our dress code.
Before I got here I begged Gail to help me with blocking some shawls because she is the shawl guru. So she organized a block party and here you can see the process of blocking the Charlotte shawl I knit during the summer. It was tough work but Gail did most of it. We also blocked the Diamond Fantasy shawl that I knit for Lynette.

It’s knit with Handmaiden Sea Silk in the Autumn colorway. I had enough yarn to knit 6 1/2 repeats to make the small shawl. I probably could’ve knit 7 repeats but I wanted to make sure I finished this in time for the block party. The colors are a lot more vibrant than what are shown in this picture.
And of course all of this couldn’t have been done without our blocking assistant, Chester. Dee wanted to take him home with her because he’s so adorable.

We might have to throw another party and invite Chester (and Christine) before I go back home. Tomorrow Charlie arrives and we are going to be tourists in our hometown for a week.
