Pattern: Leafy Lace Socks from More Sensational Knitted Socks
Yarn: Sunshine Yarns Wool/Silk in Squashed

Monica: I lost my sock knitting mojo a few months ago when I started making mittens and hats. I’m pretty sure I have it back now because I’m itching to start another pair. I have too many nice patterns to choose from which is making the decision tough for me. The leafy lace pattern on these socks is lost when the socks are folded but once you wear them you can see the little leaves. I liked knitting this pattern because I could match the second sock by counting the number of leaves I knit on the first sock. I’m lazy and always find ways to make things easier on me. (Sometimes it takes me more work to find a shortcut than it does to actually do it the long way but once I get started looking for a shortcut I cannot stop until I’ve found one.) This yarn was very nice to knit with. It wasn’t too soft for socks like I’ve heard some people mention can happen with wool/silk blends.

We homebodies are staying in this evening for New Year’s Eve. I took great delight in telling Charlie that I could call all of my family early to wish them a Happy New Year because they are either 2 or 3 hours ahead of us with the time difference. This means I can go to sleep before midnight. (If they all lived overseas I could be in bed by noon!) If we drive a few miles from our house we can probably see the fireworks that are going off later above The Strip but I’ll probably be asleep before that happens. I’ve heard on the local news that Las Vegas has planned some of the biggest parties tonight with lots of celebrities in town hosting the parties. These parties are expensive to attend! I’d rather use my money on yarn.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy new year!!
