Here’s Something Scarier Than The Bug
Monica: The last time I touched a sewing machine was when I was in 8th grade…a long time ago. I had many traumatic experiences with a nasty person in my class and I sewed through my thumb so I’ve stayed away from sewing for a long time. The reason I got one is because some of our bedding got damaged during the move. We were not too gentle with some of the boxes and the bedding took the brunt of it. I mended most of the items by hand but one of them was really ripped up so I have to trim and sew it. It’s a duvet and it was always too big for the comforter anyway so it needed to be trimmed to fit better. A new duvet would’ve required alterations also so I just bit the bullet and bought a machine. I’ve had the machine for 2 weeks right now and so far I’ve made bobbins and threaded the top and bottom. No actual sewing done yet. I’m taking baby steps.
When I’m not doing that, I’m still trying to knit down the stash. These small projects always go fast:
Pattern: Kathy’s Fingerless Gloves
Yarn: Hemp for Knitting Cashmere Canapa
I wouldn’t use them in the winter in some climates because they aren’t very warm but they are good for people who work in cold air-conditioned offices. I only used one ball of yarn and I still had some leftover so I could’ve made them a little longer.
And finally, this morning I was listening to The View and I lifted my head up for a few minutes and caught this:
For some reason this cracked me up so much that I had to take a picture and post it. It must be memories of being in 8th grade that made me snicker like a juvenile at these people who are just earning a living!
