Friendly

Monica: That’s a picture of my train pass. The slogan on the pass says, “On-time”, “Clean”, “Safe”, “Friendly”. All of those can be questionable but I truly experienced “friendly” last week when I sat next to an older gentleman. He talked to me during his entire train ride but I couldn’t understand most of what he said. He spoke very softly and his dentures made it difficult for me to understand him. I did a lot of nodding and said “uh huh” often and tried to pick appropriate times to laugh. I did hear some of the conversation about his ex-wife whom he married when he was 24 and she was 17. She didn’t know how to cook even though his mom tried to teach her. Then he asked me if I was married and when I said yes he actually said, “aw, shucks”. He was very sweet.

I was thinking of knitting these Subway Mittens to use with my card but look what I got instead.

Yup, Barb gave me the mittens she finished this week and saved me the embarrassment of getting caught stealing them from her. Thanks Barb!
