Usually I’m Not Good At Following Directions

They still need blocking.
Pattern: Citrus Mitts
Yarn: Shibui Knits Sock in lime green and finch
Monica: Unless they are wrong. Then I follow them to the letter so that my projects turn out perfectly wrong. The mistake I made on these mittens is on the bottom. If you look at the pattern and other projects on Ravelry you will see that most figured out that it was supposed to be a corrugated rib at the bottom but the chart didn’t have any purl stitches so I just did stockinette. I was distracted while knitting the first mitten so I didn’t grasp the ribbing concept. Plus there’s an inner lining that you knit in k1, p1 ribbing so I had it in my head that that part was the ribbed cuff. Luckily the person I made them for didn’t mind so after I finished the first one I continued the mistake on the second one.

I think the green could’ve been a shade darker so you can see the contrast better but as Carolyn said these mittens are like a Rothko painting. You have to stand a few feet away from them to see the design better. I knit the inside cuff in the different colors which is slightly different than the pattern as I was trying to conserve on yarn. These mittens used less than one skein of each color — each skein is only 191 yards.
Lynette and I got to knit together this weekend in between being licked by this adorable pupper. Lynette’s dog loves to give kisses and lick your face. Of course I love receiving them so it worked out fine for both of us.

Here’s a closer shot of Hershey.

I miss my knitting time with Lynette so I’m glad I got to see her. (But secretly I was there to see Hershey.)
