Another Quick Project

Pattern: Evangeline by Michelle Szeghalmi-Shirley
Yarn: Dream in Color Classy in Black Parade
Monica: My boss asked me to make her a pair of fingerless gloves because our office gets very cold. It’s so cold in our office I could probably use a Snuggie. Although, not speaking from personal experience or anything, Snuggies are somewhat thin and probably wouldn’t be warm enough for the office. But I digress. Anyway, the pattern is really easy and fast especially if you make the shorter length. I went with 4 repeats of the pattern before I started the thumb because the shorter length was too short for my boss’ hand. I will probably make a few more of these for Christmas presents and definitely a pair for myself.
This weekend Gail and I went to the Japanese book store to get this book.

because I fell in love with this pattern.

I will probably try to make that on a larger scale because the squares are a little too small for me. At the store we noticed that there were all these magazines with free gifts included like tote bags, flip flops and scrunchies. None of it seemed interesting until we saw this magazine.

Yup, it’s a pregnancy magazine. But take a closer look at the gift.

An egg tape measure! (with instructions on how to measure your belly as it grows!)

It was so cute we had to get the magazine. Does anyone want the magazine?

The mitts look super cozy! And that tape measure is adorable — much different than what I was picturing when you described it. Well worth the magazine purchase. Happy measuring!

I never quite “got” fingerless gloves. When I’m cold, my fingers are always colder than my palms. Maybe I need to find a pattern for ‘gloveless fingers’. That tape measure definitely has teh qte!

Love them. My hands are always so cold in winter. Did you get your books at Mitsuwa? Absolutely LOVE that Japanese market-I could look at the books and magazines for ages.

Where did you get the pattern for the fingerless gloves? I could use a pair myself. You did a great job on them.
