It’s a Wrap

Pattern: Mara Shawl by Madelintosh ![]()
Yarn: Madelintosh Tosh Worsted
Needle: Knit Picks Size 7
There’s nothing bad I can say about about this latest project. The yarn was so amazing to work with. The simplicity of the pattern, which is all garter stitch made the subtle color changes look great. And even though it’s all garter, this shawl was not boring in the least. Originally, when I began the shawl I only bought two skeins which I used to knit the body of the shawl. I thought I wanted the shawlette version. While knitting the body, I went to my LYS at My Sister’s Knits and tried on her sample (Rav link) then I realized I wanted a large version. I’m so glad she had an extra skein.

My favorite part of this was the pleating. I used an entire skein for it. I loved how the rib stitch converted itself to look like pleats. Fantastic!! And although I thought this part would never end, I was so happy when I knit that final bind-off stitch.

Then there’s the pop of the flower. I bought this pretty accessory while on vacation this past summer at a yarn shop in Ohio called Fiberlicious. I didn’t know what I had planned for this flower even when I bought the yarn for the shawl. But as I was finishing it, I remembered the flower. I think it worked out so well. I thought I was going to give this shawl away as a Christmas present, BUT it doesn’t want to leave and I don’t want to part with it. Besides, I’ve already worn it.

I was in the middle of thinking one of my many random thoughts, when I looked at the picture of the this shawl… and immediately thought “ooooooh, that’s beautiful”. The color, the shape. Simply gorgeous.
