Marshall Fields Clock

Monica: One of the things I used to do when I was younger was visit all of the stores on State Street and look at their holiday decorations. It always put me in a festive mood. I have stopped doing that as I’ve gotten older and busier but today had a chance to walk by Macy’s and got reminiscent about the old Marshall Field’s store. So when I saw that one of the windows featured the old store and the clock it made me happy. Oh sure Macy’s left the clocks and the old Marshall Fields signs on the building but it’s still not the same store.

    I love this scene—this is the scene Norman Rockwell painted on the Saturday Evening Post cover. Did you go inside and see the yarn ball Xmas tree in the women’s sweater section?
