Not Feeling It

K_sweater

Monica: I’m knitting a shrug-like sweater for my niece and I can’t put my finger on what it is but I don’t like it. Maybe it’s the combination of colors but I used a stripe pattern recommended by the Random Stripe Generator. That part is really my fault because the pattern was my choice to use as I had a lot of options to choose from. Anyway, this sweater is for my niece’s birthday on the 20th so I have to finish this sweater really soon because I have to mail it too Florida. So I think the overall stripey-ness is ok for a 7-year-old but I’m also worried about the size. I’m worried it will be too small but since I already cut the yarn there’s no going back! (I have many irrational knitting beliefs and one of them involves not cutting the yarn until I’m absolutely positively sure that I can do that. I agonize and agonize over cutting it so that I won’t have a lot of waste.) I’m following this pattern so I think I have a little bit of leeway with the fit. And I still have to add a seed stitch edge to the front of the sweater so that will make it a little bigger. So last night when I should have been knitting I spent an hour playing Text Twist online because I just didn’t want to work on the sweater. And then in the next hour I played Bejeweled. I think it will be ok. If not, I will have time to get her a gift card!

Hello Monica, I got the Araucania Nature Wool from you last year and I finally made something out of it – Ella from Knitty! I love it. If you are interested, you can see pictures of it on my blog.
Happy New Year to you and have a nice day!

I do that “don’t cut the yarn/cut the yarn thing as well.” I bet there’s lots of us out there!

Oh golly! I’ve gone through a Bejeweled addiction, too. Then there was the MineSweeper one…and Sudoku…and Free Cell…it’s a wonder I get any knitting done! =p
I really like the bright colors of the sweater and think your niece will, too! Very cheerful!

I dunno, some of those colors are a bit crayola-like in their brightness, but maybe it’s just me. Maybe you can send her a picture and see if she likes the progress thus far and if the stripes are to her liking?

I’ve never been as good at scrambling letters to make other words as I’d like to be. I think my brain would rather deal with whole words than individual letters, or something!
