Monica: Here’s the second sock pattern I designed for Dream in Color yarn. I think this pattern is still in “development” meaning that I already sent the pattern to DIC but I don’t think they’ve printed it yet. I called them Sleepwalkers but I’m not sure that they liked the name. By the way, Dee’s the one who came up with the name for these socks and the first pair. Anyway they told me that the first pattern should be available soon online from Knitter’s Palette. I will be stalking that site regularly so I’ll let you know when it’s there.

While writing this post I just realized that Dee tagged me for a meme and (Robin tagged Lynette for the same one–this is getting confusing). Lynette and I are really bad at memes. There’s one going around right now that pertains to projects/techniques you’ve done in knitting and I think about posting it on the blog and then I forget. Lisa tagged us with a meme months ago and we got started on a list but never completed it. Don’t worry Lisa, we will eventually get to that one too. So before I get too far behind, here are 7 Random Facts about me:

I was born in the Philippines and moved to the US when I was 8. I became a US citizen when I was a junior in high school.

My parents are Chinese and I spoke 3 languages (Tagalog, a Fujianese dialect and English) when I was a kid but now I’m lucky if I remember how to speak English.

While growing up my sisters and I were not allowed to speak English at home so that we would not forget how to speak the dialect. I still speak this when I’m with my family but I stopped learning new words in that dialect once I started thinking mainly in English. Of course this dialect isn’t the one that is spoken mainly in China so it’s basically useless and I can’t order from the special Chinese menu at restaurants.

My favorite breakfast item is corned beef hash and I always order it when I eat at new establishments so I can compare. This is the same for one of my favorite dessert items–tiramisu.

I am very short–only 5′3″. I think I used to be 5′4″ but I lost an inch already! (One of the benefits of getting old. Must remember to take calcium pills today.)

I have a freakish memory. I can usually remember what yarn Lynette has in her stash. And Gail’s stash and Dee’s….I can also remember lots of song lyrics but my memory isn’t that great when it comes to really important stuff like remembering to pay the phone bill or electric bill.

I’m horrible at sports but mostly because I don’t care how I do. When I golf (which I only do once every 3 years) I usually don’t keep score and I don’t care how many strokes it takes me to get it in the hole (spam comments should double after this sentence). I pick up the ball frequently because I’m bored and ready for the game to end.

Isn’t it easy to keep track of what’s in Lynette’s stash — CottonEase? ;)

Ooooooo!!! Monica I love this sock pattern!! Beautiful!! Is the leg part very stretchy or no?

Fun answers on your 7 random things. I do the same thing with cheese enchiladas when I go to Mexican restaurants – I compare. Sauce, cheesy’ness. Same with chips and salsa at those places – sometimes I wish I could use the chips from one place with the salsa from another place. ha

Monica! Long time no comment (from me). Sorry. I will post again soon, too.

Beautiful socks, by the way! I can’t wait to see the pattern!

And I don’t recall reading before that you speak a Fujianese dialect. Would you believe me if I told you that I do, too?!?!?! I was visiting the villages of my maternal grandparents and father in November 2006…a short bus ride from Fuzhou.

    Beeyootiful socks!

If you think 5′3″ is ‘very short’ what does that make me at 5′1″?

We should go golfing together. I haven’t golfed since 2002 and my clubs are covered with dust. Probably a good thing since my golf is excrutiating to watch…

Your socks are so just lovely *sigh*!! As for golfing I think I throw the ball further than hitting it with the club! hee-hee!
