Checking In

Monica: I’ve been keeping busy with in-law care but thought I’d show off a new FO. My sis-in-law is in town this week to give Charlie and I a break so I was able to concentrate on some sewing. One drawback for me about sewing is that it’s not as portable as knitting. That’s why I took advantage of having a few hours to concentrate on a sewing project and finished my first big project.

It’s an Amy Butler Birdie Sling Bag for Gail. Gail sent me the fabric with the roosters on it so I picked out the fabric for the handle and the lining.

One night at our knitalong I saw someone at the quilt shop who had just finished her own first bag and I fell in love with her bag and stalked her to get all the details. Since then I’ve obsessed over the bag by choosing fabrics and reviewing the pattern. And even though I couldn’t devote a lot of time to it I still bought enough fabric to make several of them. The quilt shop had a sale…blah blah…you know the rest. It’s not perfect but I’m glad I finished it and am ready to make a few more. I know someone who might want one and her birthday is coming up. Anyway, I am a total beginner so this is a big accomplishment for me and I highly recommend this pattern.

I’ve got some knitting FO’s to post this week so I’ll try to do that soon.
